Graveyard Aeronautical Motors

Would You Fly behind this Engine?

Things to consider when selecting an engine at the graveyard.

Avoid roll over vehicle. Run engine on vehicle before removing if possible. Check that no plastic parts are melted and if possible do a compression check.

Here is list of components I found helpful. This is your chance to get stuff for free, if you buy them later you get nickeled and dimed to death.

 Priority

A         ECM (engine control module)

A         wire harness uncut with all connectors (uncut makes stripping wire harness much easier).

A         Starter

B          Exhaust 'Y' pipe with all oxygen sensors

B          Main fuse box (from engine compartment) and secondary fuse box in passenger area (with all connectors).

B          Air intake including filter box and related.

B          Main relay and fuel pump relay from passenger area.

B          Pressure sensor and "source switching solenoid" if applicable to your model engine.

B          Fuel pump (Get an extra one too )

C         Fuel pump inlet filter bag

C         Manual tranny flywheel (just so you can fire it up w/o     reduction unit)

C         Bell housing (just so you can fire up engine w/o reduction unit)

C         Fuel level sensor assembly (get an extra one).

C         Ignition switch with key

C         Fuel filter with the mounting hardware if applicable.
