I am building an HDS, and the bungi style gear is a real pain, I am told. Grove makes an aluminum spring gear for the HD / HDS withPlease Wait ---Loading mounting brackets for about the same price as the ZAC supplied bungi stuff. The gear and wheels kit is $1300 through ZAC, and the Grove setup is around $1400 with the gun drilled brake lines, although this does not include the nose / tail gear. I am going to go this route - a much, much simpler and cleaner installation. Frank Darby and a guy named Aron on the list have already made the conversion (The enclosed pictures are Frank Darby's installation). I think I am the first one to start out with this in mind. I also e-mailed Chip Erwin with CAW about his composite gear. He said that he has never sold one separately or figured out a price, but he would, and they would be about the same price as the aluminum, with a 40% weight savings. He only builds attachments for the XL, so modifications would be required for the HD / HDS.
