Nose Wheel Brake

Locking the 3/8ths down

We drew a line halfway on the nose fork and it matches up with the mark 100mm from the outside of the top roller.

Square

I used a square and my wife Lisa to make sure the final bend was 90 degrees

New Version

The first version of this brake was modeled after Larry's but changes were made when we looked at the expression on his face as he was bending thinner material.

Mechanical Advantage

I had installed a 3rd bearing with a more agressive mechanical advantage to bend the thicker Aluminum.

Full shot

Closer

One side Done

Once one side was square it was time to pull it out and align the center line again fo rthe other side.

Clamps

This is a must to stop the aluminum from moving while bending.

U

Once the bend starts you can only go to just over 45 degrees before you have to remove the bottom bearing and then bend the remainder of the way.

All Done

Finished bend

This worked Great and repeating it over and over is a snap.

Straight

This couldn't get any better. Thanks go to Larry M for the basic design from which I started from.

Another happy shot

Bending Nose Fork

This part of the process requires a litle force.
